MUSCAT -- National Hospitality Institute (NHI) continues to take initiatives to drive food safety awareness in Oman. Through professional workshops and training, NHI aims at providing the knowledge, expertise and advice to ensure that all food-handling establishments have the resources readily available to achieve the responsible and legal levels of food safety. NHI recently held a symposium on food safety at Grand Hyatt Muscat. After the symposium, Robert MacLean, principal of NHI and Tracey Brooker, team leader of NHI's Food Safety Academy, presented certificates to 22 employees of Crowne Plaza Muscat with their Level One award in Food Safety, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health in the UK. "Our facilitation of internationally-accredited training to improve food safety ensures confidence in the delivery of safe food to customers and provides awareness of food safety and hygiene in our community. The growing awareness of the need for food safety training in Oman is very encouraging and we continue to support the food industry professionals in all areas of people development," said Tracey Brooker.

Currently, NHI Food Safety Academy is training 16 staff members from Marina Bander Al Rowdha in Level One and for two awards in Food Safety.

NHI has also been organising Gourmet Nights for over nine years now and the last one held at Marina Bander Al Rowdha's restaurant on June 30 was a grand success.
