Dubai: DP World will provide management advisory services on the Khorgos Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Inland Container Depot (ICD) developments in Kazakhstan.

According to a DP World press release the Dubai-based company signed an agreement with Kazakhstan’s national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) on Thursday.

The signing was held on the side lines of the second international transport and logistics forum, Kazakhstan — New Silk Way, in Astana, Kazakhstan.

DP World signed a separate agreement to provide similar services at the Port of Aktau, which is Kazakhstan’s main cargo and bulk terminal on the Caspian Sea. The agreement means DP World will provide advice on the transforming the port into a destination for cargo on the Caspian Sea.

The two agreements are in support of Kazakhstan’s plans to transform and modernise its transport and logistic infrastructure to develop its position as part of a bridge between China and Central Asia and Europe, the press release stated.

Khorgos SEZ is located on the border with China and aims to become Kazakhstan’s leading manufacturing and logistics hub service east and west bound cargo and providing benefits to surrounding companies.

Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Chairman, DP World, said the company would add “real value” to the projects.
