Doha: The world's largest football made by Doha Bank, Qatar, is presently displayed in front of Al Abdulghani Tower (Toyota Tower) on C-Ring Road. Citizens of Doha who were previously unable to witness this world record achievement of Doha Bank, can do so now.
The football, certified by the Guiness Book of World Records as being the biggest ever produced in the world to date, measures 29.77m in diameter and 94.28m in circumference. All materials used in the manufacturing of the ball has undergone detailed laboratory tests to meet with FIFA guidelines and standards.
The ball is made out of PVC artificial leather, just as it is used to manufacture regular footballs used in tournament matches. The inner tube, made out of natural rubber weighs over 600kgs bringing the total weight of the football to approximately 950kg. 20,610 hand stitches were needed to put football together. The football has an approximate volume of 15,838 cubic feet of 448.48 cubic metres, enough to accommodate 1,385 people which is equivalent to the total number of passengers in a 747 jumbo jet.
