SAFAQIS, Tunis, March 22 (KUNA) -- The 14h Safaqis Child Book Fair opened on Thursday with notable Kuwaiti participation which came within the framework of the Kuwait Media and Cultural Days held under auspices of the Tunisian Culture and heritage preservation minister Mohammad Al-Aziz Ben Ashour.

The Kuwaiti Days, held in the capital Tunis and some other cities, are due to conclude on Saturday.

The Kuwaiti pavilion in the Fair, organized by the Kuwaiti Information Office, displays several child book titles, photographs, scientific encyclopedias, issues of The Young Arab magazine and publications by the Kuwait Society of Arab Childhood Development.

Fair director, Waheed Al-Hentani, lauded the Kuwait participation in the Fair and the items and publications on display pointing out the prominent cultural role played by Kuwaitis on the Arab scene.

Director of the Kuwait's Information Office Khalid Al-Khalfan, underlined Kuwait's keenness on taking part in the Fair as part of the Kuwait Days saying the aim was to give the young a chance to get acquainted with specialized Kuwaiti publications.

Al-Khalfan added that the first Gulf cartoon film would be shown during the fair. The cartoon, "Ibn Al-Ghaba" (Jungle Boy), was based on the old Arab tale of "Hayy bin Yaqzan" (Bin Yakta Neighborhood) by Ibn Tufail.

The Kuwaiti Days in Tunis, opened last Thursday, carry on with shows by the Kuwait National Troupe led by maestro Dr Ahmed Hamdan and participation by Kuwaiti singer Khaled Ben-Hussein. The Troupe performed in other Tunisian cities.
