Academy will attract students from neighbouring countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Gulf states

AMMAN (JT) -- The Development & Investment Projects Fund (DIPF) and United Technology Solutions (UTS) agreed on Saturday to form a joint public-private partnership to establish an Oracle Academy in Jordan.

The deal, part of Oracle's initiative presented to His Majesty King Abdullah, was signed in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Akram Abu Hamdan for DIPF and by Raad Majali and Daoud Abboud for UTS.

This agreement is a result of Oracle's commitment to support the Jordan ICT sector and create a public-private partnership within this sector. The signing was attended by Oracle Corporation Executive Vice President Sergio Giacoletto, Middle East and North Africa Vice President Hussam Dajani and Levant Regional Manager Kassem Fares.

The Oracle Academy will deliver highly advanced Oracle technology and application courses to Jordanian government employees in order to support the existing and future implementation of Oracle applications.

The academy will also establish cooperation agreements with Jordanian public and private universities to develop a curriculum for Oracle applications to be trained at the university campuses.

The academy will also attract students from neighbouring countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the Gulf states to act as the hub of the Oracle Education Centre in the region.

The Oracle Academy comprises a joint partnership of leading training institutes in Jordan led by the International Training and Consultancy Centre and other IT companies to be announced later on.

The partnership between UTS and DIP will create job opportunities for both the public and private sector and will narrow the gap for career placement for newly graduates.
