DOHA: The Legal Adviser to H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs, Major General Dr Abdullah Yousuf Al Mal, inaugurated the "Crisis and Disaster Management Course for Gold Leadership" at National Command Centre in Doha yesterday.

The course is being organised by Ministry of Interior (MOI) in cooperation with the British National Police Improving Agency (NPIA). Some 20 officers from various MOI departments are participating in the five-day event.

The course aims at improving the leadership and administrative skills of officers, highlighting challenges encountered with the management of crisis and disasters, formulating policies and drafting mechanisms of follow-up of disasters, assessment of risk, planning and leadership.

Keith Per Macomb, Director of NPCI program said, "This course differs from the previous courses as it focuses on qualifying officers to become a golden leader. It will allow them draft strategies and follow up the phases of its implementation.

The bronze and silver courses were designed to provide officers with basic skill to become field leaders during disasters," he added. The ceremony was attended by Brig. Muhammed Hasan Yousul Al Sai, Director of Police Training Institute, Col. Hussain Hassan Al Jaber, Director of HR Department, Abdul Azeez Al Sayed, Col. Bader Ibraheem Al Ghanim, Head of Technical Section.
