Dubai: Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist believes that cricket’s all three formats will remain healthy.

“We have got three formats and cricket is an amazing sport that can adapt to different formats without taking away the basic fundamentals and basic constitution of it. Test cricket has got a market and a very strong audience like Twenty20. One-day cricket is a mix of both but do not compare them,” said Gilchrist, who said he was looking forward to the 2015 World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

“I never got to play a World Cup in my home town. So I would love to be down there watching it and being part of it,” he said.

Gilchrist does not believe that anyone would quit playing Test cricket for cash-rich Twenty20 tournaments.

“I am yet to see a player who finds representing a franchise or a state more important than representing his country. I am also yet to see a player who can stop playing for their country and retire prematurely from Test cricket just to cash in on the fortunes of T20 cricket.

“Brett Lee and Andrew Flintoff are guys who took the decision as their body had taken their toll. In fact, Twenty20 only extended their careers,” he added.
