Butt top scores as Al Faraa beat Unicon

Dubai: Al Faraa put on an impressive performance to beat Unicon Real Estate by 42 runs in the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Al Faraa amassed 151 for eight in their 20 overs against Unicon.

Adnan Butt was the top scorer with a 37-ball 34 that included two boundaries and a six, while Tahir Mughal (29) and Faisan Asif (25) made a significant contribution.

Shahzad Malek added 25 from as many balls, while Baber Bashir scored 12 not out from eight balls as Al Faraa put up a challenging total.

For Unicon, Assad Ansari and Maaz Ansari claimed two wickets each.

Unicon lost four wickets for just 35 runs, but Zeeshan Akmal gave them some hope with a 19-ball 36 studded with five sixes, while Abu Bakkar smashed a 12-ball 22 including one boundary and two sixes.

But, with wickets falling at regular intervals, Unicon were shot out for 109 in 18.2 overs.

Mujahid Amin took three wickets in his four overs, while Fayyaz Ahmad and Imran Maqsood bagged two apiece.
