BP Sharjah Oil Co has achieved a record of six years and six million working hours without a single Day Away From Work Case (DAFWC), the industry's safety measure of employees being absent due to injuries at work.

The company employs over 160 staff and contractors in joint venture with the Sharjah government that includes three gas condensate fields, a processing plant, gas compression facilities and two export terminals.

It is the largest gas exporter in the UAE.

"Safety is a top priority in all aspects of our business and we are grateful for the full support we receive from Sharjah Petroleum Council and Shalco in helping us to achieve this milestone," said Abdulkarim Al Mazmi, president and general manager of BP Sharjah.

"In addition to our daily production business we have also completed many major projects during the past six years."

Dr Michael Daly, president of BP Middle East & Pakistan Buisness Unit, added: "This is a remarkable achievement for BP Sharjah, particularly considering their diverse range of operations, varying from offshore loading to desert drilling, and the pioneering work they undertake."
