DUBAI, 22 June 2006 -- BMW Group and American Express yesterday launched a co-branded credit card in the UAE. "The BMW Credit Card" marks the first strategic cooperation between both brands in the Middle East, and brings the region's first co-branded credit card in the automobile sector.
The American Express chip enabled BMW Credit Card is accepted in more than 200 countries worldwide, and features vehicle ownership, lifestyle and travel benefits. Furthermore, card-members will enjoy increased spending power and American Express' award winning customer loyalty program, Membership Rewards.
Exclusively for BMW credit card-members, membership rewards points can be redeemed against BMW vehicle servicing, BMW's acclaimed lifestyle collection of accessories, apparel and gifts -- including BMW Sauber F1 Gear -- and even for BMW vehicle purchases. Additional points can be redeemed for a variety of hotel, retail, and leisure rewards including free flights and upgrades from five regional airline partners.
Card-members will also enjoy privileged first viewing of new cars before launch.
Robert Chamberlain, general manager, Global Banking, BMW AG said, "American Express is a natural partner for BMW Financial Services due to their superior financial expertise, flexibility and their ability to tailor a credit card specifically for our customers' needs."
Trevor Stokes, president & CEO of American Express Middle East & North Africa commented: "We are proud to partner with a premium brand such as BMW in the Middle East for a unique product designed to meet the growing sophistication of the region's consumers."
