Abu Dhabi, March 8th, 2011 (WAM) -- Bilal Al Budoor, Assistant Deputy of Arts and Culture Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development has inaugurated "Jawhar Assowar" the contemporary calligraphy work by Tagelsir Hassan at the National Theater in Abu Dhabi.
The exhibition is organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage under the patronage of Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development. More than 30 artworks are on display in the exhibition that will last till March 17th. The works of the Sudanese artist showcase the latest artistic techniques in calligraphy arts as a photograph as part of his visual research project. This project indicates that Arabic calligraphy is an art for all ages and it is the core of visual arts. Tagelsir is a pioneer artist who contributed in the revival movement of the Arabic calligraphy in UAE since he arrived in 1988 and worked in the design section in Al Bayan newspaper. Later he joined the ministry of educating and now he is working in the ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development. Throughout his career he initiated number of visions to launch the calligraphy incrustations in Sharjah and Dubai. He is also a cofounder for Horouf Arabia Magazine, the only specialist publication in Arabic calligraphy. He established his own style in calligraphy which is known as "TAGI". His abstract style made his works unique in a traditional art that made him collect the most prizes in his field. Recently he was awarded his 15 prize from the eighth edition of Al Bourda award organised by the ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2011.
