The Bazme Itehad Jeddah (BIJ), or Jeddah United Forum, inaugurated a new committee that is keen to organize social and educational gatherings for the Indian expat community in Jeddah. The forum organizes, among others, an annual poetry program and creates awareness on various topics and it holds educational programs for children. The new committee was formed at the residence of BIJ President Ahmed-uddin Awaisi in Madinah in the presence of Syed Ali Mahmood, senior supervisor of the BIJ and other members of the committee.

Syed Ali Mahmood, senior supervisor of the BIJ, said that the new committee decided to give great responsibilities to the youth members who are up-to-date with the latest digital technology and telecommunication has to offer. This would bring the committee on par with the needs of its 21st century members. "This decision was made to make the committee more effective through digital and social media. The committee also wants to keep an eye on misleading information which could harm the unity of the committee," he explained. He further said that the committee would introduce BIJ on an international level. The main mission of the forum is to create unity and understanding between countries and peoples of the world.

"Through this we want to establish peace and security for everyone," he said. Mohammed Obaid-ur-Rahman was selected as vice president, Mohammed Abdul Qayyum as general secretary, Sayed Khoja Vaqarudeen as assistant secretary, Mahmood Balsharaf Khazan and Asrar Ahmed Sadquee as media coordinators. Mazhar Ali Baig and former vice president Anwar Hasan Bayazeed were selected on the advisory board.
