BAHRAIN Airport Services will be providing ground services at Kuwait International Airport (KIA), BAS announced yesterday. The company's opening of services in Kuwait has been formalised after a contract between the company and the Kuwait Civil Aviation General Directorate was signed on January 22. The company will provide passenger handling, cargo and aircraft engineering services at KIA.

Siging the agreement on behalf of BAS was chief executive Ray Sayer and Kuwait Civil Aviation president Shaikh Jaber Mubarak Al Abdulla Al Ahmed Al Sabah. The signing was witnessed by KCA general manager Yaqoub Yousuf Al Saqr.

"This contract was won against strong competition from international companies and is a major achievement for Bahrain", Sayer emphasised.

BAS business expansion is highly encouraged by Minister of Transportation Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa who is also chairman of the company's board. Sayer stressed that the company will adhere to the highest international standards in discharging its obligations under the contract and will cooperate "to the fullest extent" with the Kuwaiti civil aviation and other Kuwaiti authorities concerned.
