MUSCAT -- The DHL Exel Supply Chain has strengthened its ties with Bahwan Cybertek, under a new corporate brand, Bahwan DHL Exel Supply Chain. The move signals the company's commitment to the Omani market and affirms its effort to bring enhanced logistics capability to the Sultanate.
The newly named company is committed to providing complete supply chain and logistics solutions using the latest technologies and best industry practices to support Oman's booming economic growth, especially in the oil and gas sector.
At a press conference held yesterday to unveil the company's new brand name and logo, Paul Sypropoulous, country managing director of Bahwan Exel Supply Chain, said: "With this enhanced partnership, we are combining DHL Exel Supply Chain's vast resources and international expertise with local knowledge and strengths of Bahwan Cybertek, Oman's leading business transformation company. Both companies present a unique synergy of unmatched supply chain capabilities."
Commenting on the partnership, Hind Suhail Bahwan, chairperson of DHL Exel Supply Chain and Bahwan Cybertek Group, said: "Over the years Oman has pursued a balanced and sustainable growth model, with equal emphasis on developing its natural resources, business sector and human resources. Bringing world class logistics services to Oman's petroleum industry, through this joint venture, will provide an opportunity for our employees throughout the country to learn and gain experience from the best global supply chain operator in the world."
Among the existing customers for the new company is Petroleum Development LLC (PDO), a leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate. It has a significant cargo haulage contract with Bahwan DHL Exel Supply Chain, as well as a fourth party logistics (4 PL) management agreement. PDO accounts for more than 90 per cent of Oman's crude oil production, nearly all its natural gas supply, and generates 40 per cent of the country's GDP.
"This initiative will bring real value to PDO, helping the business to move up the value chain from higher efficiencies to consistent effectiveness. PDO's vision will not only benefit themselves, but the industry as a whole," said S. Durgaprasad, director of Bahwan DHL Exel Supply Chain and CEO of Bahwan Cybertek Group.
Incorporated in 1999, the Bahwan Cybertek Group has successfully transformed itself into a global provider of hybrid technology solutions. An SEI CMMi 5-level company, BCT was recently adjudged by Red Herring as Asia's top 100 privately managed companies.
The company's offering spans across product development, systems integration, outsourced application development, migration, customisation, training and consulting services for government, banking and financial services, supply chain solutions, oil and gas, corporate (retail manufacturing) and industry verticals.
DHL is the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry, specialising in providing innovative and customised solutions from a single source. The company offers increased expertise in express, air and ocean freight, overland transport, contract logistics solutions, as well as international mail services, combined with worldwide coverage and an in-depth understanding of local markets.
