Bahrain is seeking to boost cooperation with Turkey in the field of vocational training and employment and the two countries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in this regard.

The agreement, signed by Minister of Labour Dr. Majeed bin Mohsin Al Alawi and the Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Dr. Omar Dincer, will increase cooperation in the areas of labour and employment, vocational training and human resources.

It also focuses on dispute resolution, labour arbitration, the prevention of child labour, relations between the worker and the employer, the relationship between institutions, workers and unions, work permits for expatriate workers, security and work safety. In addition to this, the agreement will promote cooperation in vocational rehabilitation for persons with special needs, the setting up of expatriate employment offices, recruitment, and occupational guidance.

A joint committee is tobe established to oversee  the implementation of the agreement.

The MoU was signed at the Turkish Council of Ministers in Istanbul during a visit by the Bahraini minister to Turkey.

During his visit, Dr. Al Alawi was briefed on Turkey's experience in the area of employment and its efforts to reduce joblessness.

The minister also met with the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Ali Babajan.
