PM orders to speed up work on 80 units in Halat Bu Maher
The Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, yesterday issued orders to complete the reconstruction work on the 80 dilapidated houses in Halat Bu Maher in the Muharraq Governorate by the year-end.
Shaikh Khalifa visited the area following the Cabinet's approval to rebuild the houses. He was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transportation, Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of the Prime Minister's Court, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Muharraq Governor, Salman Isa Bin Hindi, the head of public relations at the Muharraq Municipal Council, Shaikh Saleh Al Jowder, the head of Halat Bu Maher Committee, Mohammed Jarah, and other officials.
Shaikh Khalifa met a number of residents and listened to their needs. He said the government would continue its projects to provide a better standard of life for citizens, stressing that the housing, health and education projects would top the government priorities.
The residents thanked Shaikh Khalifa for the visit which they said reflected his keenness on addressing the citizens' needs.
"Of the 80 houses, many have been demolished and are being rebuilt by the Ministry of Works and Housing.
The governorate is supervising the project. The ministry is also paying BD150 each a month to the evacuated families," Al Jowder said.
He said the residents also urged the Prime Minister to order the construction of a majlis or a party hall. "We also discussed a permanent slaughterhouse for Muharraq butchers and briefed the Premier on the five suggested sites for a slaughterhouse in Hob Al Jaff in Hidd," he said.
