His Majesty the King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, welcomed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedi Nejad on his arrival at the Bahrain International Airport yesterday.

Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the BDF, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, senior members of the Ruling family, chairman of the Shura Council, ministers, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Governor of Muharraq, the dean of the diplomatic corps and officials of the Iranian embassy were present.

President Nejad later held talks with King Hamad on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern.

The honorary delegation accompanying the president was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. President Nejad was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Minister of Finance and Economy Dawood Danish Ja'afery, Minister of Oil Gulam Hussain Nowzari, Vice President and in charge of cultural heritage and tourism, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, President's Advisor Mojtaba Hashim, member of the Islamic Shura Council Zoal Anwar, Assistant undersecretary for Arab and African Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Iranian Ambassador Amir Abdullahyan and other top Iranian officials. Later, HM the King hosted a lunch banquet at Gudaibiya Palace in President Nejad's honour. Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, senior officials and members of the delegation accompanying President Nejad were present.
