Investcorp, the asset management firm specialising in alternative investments, has announced that it has acquired Armacell International GmbH, the global market leader in development and production of flexible technical insulation.

Armacell produces insulation based on Elastomerics and Polyethylene technologies for wholesalers including insulation specialists, heating and plumbing specialists, refrigeration wholesalers, OEMs or DIY retailers.

Users of Armacell's products include Burj Al Arab Hotel Project in Dubai, which uses 15,000m of Armaflex; the Voyager of the Seas, which uses Armaflex for its insulation system, and in Pudong, China, at the largest airport in Asia, which uses 20,000m of Armaflex.

Armacell was spun off from Armstrong World Industries in 2000 and is headquartered in Munster, Germany, with operations in the US, South America, Europe, Russia and Asia.
