AMMAN -- Globally known for his strong will and determination, activist Nick Vujicic is scheduled to pay a short visit to the Kingdom next month during which he will deliver a "lecture of hope".
HRH Prince Mired, president of the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers (HCDS), made the announcement at a press conference on Monday.
Vujicic's "A Call for Peace" trip to the Kingdom will also include a visit to the Zaatari Refugee Camp where he is expected to meet with Syrian refugees and present gifts to children, Prince Mired said.
Born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, Vujicic entered this world with neither arms nor legs, the prince said, adding that his physical disability led to rejection, bullying, diminished self-worth, depression and suicidal thoughts.
"Despite his disability, which he hardly considers, Nick has inspired millions of people all over the world... He has a smile that is infectious, a charisma like no other and a spirit that is just unbelievable!" Prince Mired told reporters.
"One of his many sayings is: 'In life...you must always try to be the best person that you can be.' His will, his strength and his positive attitude will humble anyone," he added.
"Nick is coming to Jordan because he loves our country and wants to support us in our endeavors. All proceeds of the event will go towards helping landmine survivors, disabled soldiers, spinal cord injury patients and Syrian refugees in the Zaatari Refugee Camp," Prince Mired said, adding that Vujicic will also visit the King Hussein Cancer Centre.
Vujicic previously visited the Kingdom in February 2011 and delivered a lecture that covered several topics, including leadership, teamwork and uncovering one's potential.
In his response to the organisers' invitation to visit the Kingdom, Vujicic said leaders must lead by example and should show cooperation in the face of temptation to divide and fracture.
"You must extend the hand of friendship to those who before may not have befriended you... Leading the way, no matter what factors differentiate you, your followers, and your beliefs from others, you must show solidarity with each and every person, so that all may prosper and thrive," he added.
The event's organisers are the HCDS, the National Committee for De-mining and Rehabilitation, Jordanian Association for Spinal Cord Injury Care and the US based nonprofit organisation Roads of Success.
Ticket prices to Vujicic's seminar range between JD10 and JD40. All revenues will be channelled to assist the organising parties in enhancing the services they offer to their beneficiaries.
