DOHA -- A'Saffa Poultry, Oman's leading poultry producer, has signed a deal with Hassad Food of Qatar, to become a project manager of a RO26.25-million investment in the state of Qatar.
When completed, the new project is anticipated to provide 20 per cent of Qatar's demand for poultry and eggs.
The deal for the new project was recently signed in Doha between Hassad Food and A'Saffa Poultry, and when operational, it will have a capacity of 17,000 metric tonnes of chicken per annum and 90 million eggs.
The agreement was formally signed in Doha by A'Saffa Poultry Chairman Saleh Mohammed Al Shanfari and Hassad Food Chairman and Managing Director Nasser Mohammed Al Hajri.
Hassad Food is Qatar's investor and developer in the agriculture and livestock sector. When looking for an expert partner to design and manage the poultry project, A'Saffa was chosen due to its highest international quality standards which it had shown in the development of their own state-of-the-art poultry farm at Thumrait, south of Oman.
Pioneering initiative
Chairman Saleh Mohammed Al Shanfari said, "Hassad Food is a pioneering initiative in the Arab world. The agreement indicates the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and Oman."
Meanwhile, A'Saffa Poultry CEO Dr Nasser Al Maully explained that the company has pioneered the business of building successful big-size integrated poultry projects and the company has an edge over other competitors that are helping it to become the leader in the business, providing one-stop solutions for any poultry projects.
"A'Saffa is the leading poultry farm in the Omani market in terms of quality and consumer satisfaction.
"The company will be the consultant in the project design and management of the farm due to its long experience in the area," explained Al Hajri, the chairman and managing director of Hassad Food.
"The new poultry farm in Qatar will comply to Islamic Shariah principles in its maintenance and slaughtering of the chicken and will have a new label of its own.
Production
The 30 square kilometres farm will be located towards the south of Qatar away from the residential areas and produce up to 17,000 metric tonnes of chicken and 90 million eggs annually."
Production is expected to start within 30 months.
