Dubai: Aramex’s online shipping service, Shop and Ship, has been signed up by Dubai-based portal JadoPado as it seeks a wider reach.

Shop and Ship enables consumers from 52 global cities, including New York, London, Shanghai, Dubai and Mumbai, to purchase from any online store in the world. The service sets up postal addresses to receive orders in these cities and then forwards the packages on to the consumer’s actual home address.

For JadoPado, the collaboration will allow the tech retailer to extend services to markets beyond the GCC. Customers will be able to buy items and have them delivered to their Dubai Shop and Ship address to be shipped overseas to their home addresses.

“The UAE has rapidly developed into a popular global shopping destination but still has a fledgling e-commerce sector,” Hassan Mikail, global director for e-commerce at Aramex, said. “This partnership with JadoPado opens the marketplace to thousands of customers that, until now, have not been able to purchase their products from online UAE retailers.

“Currently, only a handful of e-commerce companies based in the Middle East have an international customer base because cross-border shipping poses major challenges. Our merchant solutions are specifically designed to simplify international shipping for online retailers as we handle everything from customs clearance and processing to last mile delivery.”
