KUWAIT: The Woman Cultural and Social Society (WCSS) invited Sheikha Haya Bin Rashid Al-Khalifa, the chairperson of the United Nation General Assembly, who is visiting the country, to an honouring dinner.

Sheikha Haya was the Bahraini ambassador to France. She finished her studies in the Faculty of Law of the Kuwait University. Sheikha Haya will be in her post of the Chairperson of the United Nation General Assembly for one year.

The United Nations plays an important role in enabling the woman to get her rights. "Enabling women to reach leading positions is essential for the development, which will help all countries to be in one level. The UN also took the responsibility of developing the undeveloped countries in the field of women rights," said Sheikha Haya.

Sheikh Haya is the third woman to occupy the position of chairperson of the United Nation General Assembly since the UN was founded. She also is the first Arab woman to take this post. The first woman was from India in the 1950s, the second was from Liberia in the 1960s, and now Sheikha Haya is at this post.
The Arab countries are not united in the UN. "Other small countries are united and together make pressure power in the UN. Thus the Arab countries don't make such pressure power. We in the Arab countries have problem in dealing with ourselves and with others as well. This may be caused by the curriculum, so we should spread the equity rules," she noted.

The United Nations set the year 2015 to achieve the goals of the millennium. "This year we aim to carry out these goals. I took the responsibility to execute three main subjects. The first is to bring together the donor countries with the receiving countries that have ready projects to realise. We also invited the private sector companies to participate in realising projects in the developing countries. The second subject is the enabling of women to get their rights completely. And the third was called the dialogue of civilisations and setting peace," Sheikha Haya pointed out.
