AQABA (Petra) - The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) on Thursday closed the beaches at the northern and central coasts to visitors and tourists as a precautionary measure due to wastewater leakage. According to Bilal Bashir, ASEZA deputy chief commissioner, the leak resulted from a break in a water carrier line which was detected by the Aqaba Water Company. Reiterating that water pumping was transferred to the reserve pipeline, Bashir said ASEZA is carrying out precautionary measures, including lab tests of seawater. The shores will be reopened for visitors as soon as the problem is over, Bashir added.
