DOHA: Forms for applying for the Schengen visa at the German embassy in Doha can now be downloaded from the website of the German Business Council Qatar at www.gbqc.name.qa, a senior diplomat said. Details of supporting documents such applicants have to submit while applying for the visa are also available at the website.
Marisa J Kollenberg, chief of the visa and consular section at the German embassy in Doha, said: "As a standard rule, the applicant has to file his application with the embassy of that Schengen country which is his main destination. Since not all the Schengen states are represented here in Qatar, visas can be obtained through the Embassy which is processing visas on their behalf. The German embassy in Doha issues visas for additional Schengen countries- Austria, Belgium, Finland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and Norway."
An online system for submitting or filling visa forms, she said, could not be established by the German Embassy in Doha alone, but would have to be introduced centrally from the headquarters in Germany, which was not planned so far.
