ABU DHABI, feb 7th, 2010: Anasy Media Production has announced that it will continue till February 25th accepting new applications for the second session of Anasy Documentary Awards 2010, which is organized biannually by Anasy under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and this time in coordination with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and twofour.54.

Dhekra Ouali, director of Anasy Documentary Awards, said that the extension of the entry period came in response to the huge interest and enthusiasm showed by the participants over the Awards in its second session.

"Year after year, Anasy Documentary Awards continue the journey in a steadfast and dedicated manner towards success to achieve the goals of a worldwide popularity. Moreover, we have decided in response to the requests of the participants for a longer period of time to complete their documentaries, extending the registration period for two more weeks so that everybody would have the opportunity to participate," said Dhekra Ouali.

Ouali added that "Anasy Documentary Awards is based on a clear vision and specific objectives, for which we continue to work and develop. These objectives are: Honoring the pioneers of documentary films from around the world and deepening its status within the Arab audience, supporting the documentary film industry through production, promotion and distribution, encouraging the advancement of the documentary film industry from the amateur level to a professional one in the Emirates and around the Arab world, motivating the winners through cash prizes, helping them to produce more creative and innovative films, making Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates a world renowned center for gathering all experts related to this industry, introducing the documentary filmmaking to the various social and cultural institutionswithin UAE and all Arab countries, making the documentary available to the masses either on local television in Arabic, or through specialized distribution centers and introducing different documentary styles and showing the diversity and richness of the different documentary schools in various languages and parts of the world.

On 9th December 2009 the opening of participation for the second session of ADA 2010 was officially announced as follows: Official Competition:Anasy Documentary Awards includes three main topics: 1-Free topic competition "Talk Doc.": it includes all documentary films that have social, cultural, historical, scientific and sporting subjects, whether documentary, docudrama, TV documentary or cinematic documentary.

2-"Child in our eyes" Competition: it is specialized in documentary films that deal with all topics related to the child as a human being and a vital part of every society.

3-Script competition: It is also related to the free topic. Script ideas and projects for documentary films that have free topics will be presented, where the winning ideas will be adopted and their production will be supervised by Anasy Documentary Awards.

Youth competition:"One Minute Doc"Dhekra Ouali has clarified that Anasy Documentary Awards are offering to the winners a total of AED 1,050,000 Dirhams as prizes.

A sum of AED 500,000 Dirhams will be given to the winner of the first award. Half of this sum will be given in cash and the other half will be in the form of production support in cooperation with twofour 54.

Two workshops will be held on the frame of making one minute documentaries at the premises of twofour 54 Academy.

Best Photography Best Director Best Editing Best Research Best Character Best Idea / MessageTo participate in Anasy Documentary Awards, there is only one way, namely to fill in a form for participation via the internet on the website of Anasy Documentary Awards www.anasydocawards.com as follows:1-The film should take into consideration the topics of the competition and abide by the technical and professional standards.

2-The duration of the film should be 28 minutes or more.

3-The film should have a written translation or dubbing in both Arabic and English.

4-The form attached to the site should be filled in and signed by the participant. The film material should be sent on DVD along with a synopsis, poster, pictures or shots of the film in addition to a promo no later than the 30th of January, 2010.

5-The copy, which is ready for screening, should be sent on beta cam, HD or cinematic film 35mm no later than the 28th of February 2010 for the films that are technically approved.

6-All affirmative papers and intellectual property rights documents should be authenticated from all the concerned authorities in the country of residence.

Parallel activities 1-Making one minute documentary films: In cooperation with UNICEF workshops are organized for youth to achieve their ambitions of making documentary films of one minute giving them an opportunity to express their concerns.

2-Open days in universities: Introducing Anasy Documentary Awards in all universities and encouraging students to participate in the competition.

3-Open day in Dubai Press Club: It aims at meeting with film makers who are living in the Northern Emirates or working in Dubai Media City.

4-Arab Documentary Panorama: To honor three of the most important producers or contributors to the documentary film industry in the Arab world.

5-Documentary screening for the general public at cinema theatres starting with the capital city, covering all the Emirates including the remote areas making them available for all sectors of society under the slogan of "Documentary for All".
