The all new 2011 GMC Terrain is now available in Oman at all the showrooms of Moosa Abdul Rahman Hassan, bringing with it over 100 years of engineering and capability, albeit in a smaller and more fuel efficient package.

A segment leader in fuel efficiency, the vehicle stays true to the brand's characteristics with a boldly styled exterior, comfortable interior, a high level of standard content and a smooth ride, according to a press release.

"Terrain is built by effectively combining styling and premium features with practicality of fuel efficiency, which is fast becoming a major consideration for buyers worldwide," said Virendra Agarwal, CEO of Moosa Abdul Rahm-an Hassan & Co, the distributors for GMC in Oman.

The Terrain's front end squared off edges and flared fenders set the vehicle apart from its competition by aesthetically looking stronger than a 'soft road' vehicle, thereby living up to the design heritage expected from a GMC. The Terrain also has a GMC-signature three-element grille accented by a prominent chrome surround and projector-beam headlamps mounted in large, chrome-accented rectangular housings.

The high quality look and feel of the Terrain's premium interior reflects GM's renewed commitment to interior design. One of the examples is the use of red ambient lighting to warm up the passenger space.

Beyond the detailed instruments with backlighting that complement the ambient lighting, the designers have also woven in many clever storage spaces such as an oversized glove box, a convenient closed storage area in the instrument panel above the centre stack, a closed storage compartment under the centre arm-rest large enough for a purse or notebook binder, and two-tier storage in the doors.

There are also four power outlets for phone chargers, laptops and other devices.  The Terrain is available with two power trains. The 2400cc SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection) engine with VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and six-speed automatic transmission produces 182HP and 233Nm of torque. This power train is EPA-rated at a segment-leading 7.35lt per 100km on the highway (FWD model) which is achieved in part with an 'eco' mode activated via a console-mounted button - giving the crossover best in class fuel economy.

The 3000cc V6 SIDI and E85 capable engine with VVT produces 264HP and 301Nm, and is EPA-rated at 9.4lt per 100km on the highway (also the FWD model), thereby beating some of the competition.

The Terrain's direct fuel injection engine delivers power on demand for a confident driving experience at the same time improving the fuel efficiency by up to three per cent, while reducing emissions by up to 25 per cent.

Terrain includes a list of options that come as standard in the car to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers alike. These include StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control, as well as six standard air bags.

To enjoy music, the vehicle includes as standard USB audio connectivity and MP3 playback for your portable music player - plug it in and control the features right from the radio or the opti-onal steering wheel controls, in addition to a ten-gigabyte hard drive that enables a music library to be stored for instant playback through the radio.
