Abu Dhabi Al Wahda will face Al Wasl in the quarter-finals of the GCC Clubs Championship in Dubai on May 15.
Al Wahda were humiliated 5-1 late on Wednesday night in Kuwait by Al Arabi club, the leaders of the group, despite the first half ending goalless. Ahmad Abdul Ghafour put the home team into the lead in the 54th minute and, just four minutes later, Hussain Al Mosawai added the second.
Mosawai added his second in the 80th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 89th. Mohammad Zubiya scored his team’s fifth goal in the second minute of injury time.
Al Wahda’s consolation goal came in the 85th minute and was scored by Hugo from the penalty spot.
Either Al Wasl, who won their group, or Al Wahda will now feature in the semi-final of the championship, which UAE side Al Shabab won last year when beating their neighbours Al Ahli in an all-UAE final.
