JEDDAH: Al-Waha International School hosted the Novel Globe literary event on April 5 and 6 for grades 4 through 9. Novel Globe involved role playing and staged character emulation of classic and contemporary novels.

Character portrayals from great literary novels such as "Merchant of Venice," "Madame Doubtfire," "David Copperfield," and "Glimpse of the Future" were presented by higher grade students. Grade four enacted their favorite novel characters such as Tinkerbell, Mrs. Trunchbull, and Aladdin, among others. Over a 100 children took part in the literary event.

The girls' section hosted its event on Tuesday on campus while the boys' school rounded up the competition on Wednesday afternoon. Roohi Saleem, an English teacher, told Arab News that the event was an effort to encourage children's interest in literature and to uplift their spirit.

"Every child put in a lot of hard work and teachers put in a lot of time in it. Epilogues and presentations are a result of children's hard work and was done on their own."

Arab News was invited to judge the competition with Al-Waha School's principal. She deemed this occasion essential for nurturing language skills and promoting young talent. Judging will take place across grade level, between girls and boys of same grades. The winners and participants will all receive awards and certificates on Saturday.
