Doha:  Al Shamal Municipality has plans for some 34 projects as part of developing the area and services offered to the people.

Some 19 projects which includes services and beautification works have already been completed according to Jabor Ali Al Nuaimi, Director of Al Shamal  municipality.

Currently, some eight projects in all areas of the municipality are heading toward completion, local dailies reported.

As per the plans the municipality has a wide range of projects totalling up to 34 which includes 10 road projects, nine building projects, six drainage works and  nine projects on parks and landscaping.

Al Nuaimi explained that Al Shamal Municipality management since its inception has sought to develop the area and ensure provision of essential services.

The projects that are already completed and implemented include the municipal building, first phase of Al Shamal port,  fish market, cattle market and automated abattoir, Al Shamal park, Abu Zhaluf park, Al Kaaban Park, municipality garage, establishment of an industrial zone, paving of Al Shamal, Ruwais, Abu Zhaluf, Al Kaaban and Ain Sinan roads,  paving of the entrance to villages in Al Shamal, paving of industrial zone,  building housing units for workers of Al Shamal Municipality, beautification of Baladiya/Municipality roundabout and  beautification of the street linking Baladiya and Bank roundabouts among the others.

Some of the projects under way currently in various regions of the north include the second phase of the Al Shamal port, construction of new roads in Al Shamal, Ruwais, Abu Zhaluf and Al Kaaban, construction of roads to villages and farms, establishment of Al Shamal- Doha road, introducing water line between Al Shamal and Ras Laffan.

Some of the major projects planned for the future include creating a corniche in Al Shamal linking it with Ruwais and Abu Zhaluf, lighting of road connecting Al Shamal and Al Zubarah Fort, re-paving and lighting of the entrances to villages in the Al Shamal and lighting roads in the area of industrial zone.

Complaints received from expats and nationals on the services of municipality are always solved according to the dailies.

Officials visit the area and photograph the area and sent the complaint to the concerned department to follow-up.
