Muscat: Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services by ahlibank Oman has become one of the first Islamic banks in Oman to introduce a chip-based debit card. The newly introduced Sharia-compliant debit card will be accepted worldwide for cash withdrawals and for use at merchant outlets.

Based on international banking standards, the Al Hilal debit card has been tailored to meet the needs of Islamic banking customers and has been developed in strict accordance with the values of the Islamic faith.

Commenting on this commendable achievement, Abdullah Al Jabri, DGM and Head of Islamic Banking at Al Hilal, said, "Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services from ahlibank is the first Islamic banking window in Oman to go live with a debit card offering full service and transactional facilities to our esteemed customers. Al Hilal debit card can now be used by customers for transactions/cash withdrawals on Omannet, GCC net, and the Visa network. Our customers
can use any ATM machine in the Sultanate without bearing any charges or fees."

Al Jabri added that this milestone was in line with Al Hilal's continuing efforts to ensure their customers get the best services available. He further noted that Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services will be introducing various new initiatives to ensure the continued momentum of Islamic banking in the Sultanate and a high level of customer satisfaction, which is the hallmark of the brand.
