Leading decorative and industrial coatings manufacturer Al Gurg Leigh's Paints plans to open up to 50 new Dulux Decorator Stores (DDCs) over the next five years.
"The Middle East is of great importance to us as the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region accounts for 46 per cent of our annual turnover," said Tony Myers, managing director of Dulux business for ICI Paints.
Philip Mathew, general manager of Al Gurg Leigh's Paints, said, "The decorative paints market is evolving at a rapid pace. The DDCs in the UAE have stimulated the need for quality services."
Each of the in-house colour consultants in the boutiques is trained to offer advice based on personal requirements and individual personality.
The company organised a seminar in Dubai recently for more than 150 UAE-based consultants, project managers, engineers and designers from architectural and consulting firms to discuss the global trends in the colour industry.
In 2004, ICI Dulux achieved sales of over Dh165 million in the Middle East and projects sales growth to reach approximately Dh750 million by 2010.
The business is headquartered in the UK and operates 49 manufacturing sites in 25 countries, selling in more than 120 countries.
The company currently has seven DDCs in the UAE two each in Dubai and Sharjah, and one each in Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
