Prices range from Dh59,500 to Dh73,900; 2.0L models also introduced

Al-Futtaim Motors, which is operating Toyota franchise in the UAE for six decades, on Thursday launched 2014 models of the new-look Toyota Corolla which comes in 1.6L and a newly-introduced 2.0L engines.

The 1.6L model is available in three different packages with entry-level S model priced at Dh59,500, SE at Dh63,500 and SE+ at Dh68,500.

The 2.0L also comes in three different packages with the entry-level SE priced at Dh66,900, SE+ model priced at Dh69,900 and the Limited Edition model at Dh73,900.

All models launched in the UAE will have automatic transmission, Jon Williams, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Motors, said, adding that the newly-designed vehicle will cater all segments including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), corporates and individuals.

Toyota Chief Engineer Shinichi Yasui said the new models will have extended wheelbase which will provide more spacious and comfortable experience to all passengers.

Addressing a press conference in Dubai today, Al-Futtaim Motors Managing Director Williams said: "Sales increased 20 per cent year-on-year in 2013 in the UAE despite competition."

He said Corolla enjoys 35 per cent market share in the compact car segment in the UAE and newly-designed 2014 models will play a crucial in increasing the market share.

The officials expect 1.6L model to make up two-third sales while 2.0L will contribute one-third for Corolla brand with most demand coming for SE-level segment.
Corolla accounts for 15 per cent of Toyota's total global sales and 15 per cent of Al-Futtaim Motors' sales in the UAE.

The all-new 2014 model is launched with six exterior colours - super white, silver metallic, gray metallic, black mica, blue metallic and dark blue mica.
