Damascus - Al-Bzouryieh Souk is one of 55 old markets in Old Damascus. The traditional market is partly covered with metal and stone arches to protect visitors from sun, rain and cold and hot weather. It is one of the most significant trade and tourist spots in Damascus due to its special architectural design and natural products.

The souk is considered the biggest supply store for Damascus City since the Ayyubid Era; it has been specialized with perfumes, dried aromatic plants, nuts, spices trade and other goods.

Ahmad Bani Marjeh, who has inherited Perfumery from his father and grandfather, said that the souk's wide-spread fame goes beyond the local framework to the whole world, adding that it is a destination for people of different nationalities to buy goods and make deals.

Owning a small shop in al- Bzouryieh Souk, Bani Marjeh said he has backed his forefathers' experience by studying Pharmaceutical Science at university, pointing out that his grandfathers used to study Perfumery at Bimaristan for four years.

"Our small shop could supply most of Syrian and Arab cities, as we also opened ten other branches in the region." Bani Marjeh said.
