TEHRAN, (SANA) - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and Speaker of Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani stressed the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria and preventing the smuggling of weapons into it.

During a meeting in Tehran on Friday, the two sides said that weakening Syria will gravely damage the Syrian people and Islamic world and that it would serve Israel, voicing their readiness to cooperate to find a regional solution to the crisis.

The Sudanese President said that the two countries' viewpoints regarding many issues are very close, particularly the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian cause.
