DOHA: Air France plans to re-launch flights between Paris and Doha with a twice-weekly service later this year, an airline spokeswoman said yesterday. The date for the launch of these flights, which are being started under a new project entitled ‘Dedicate’, are to be announced later. The airline had ceased operations between Paris and Doha in the mid-1990s.
“The airline is innovating by launching Dedicate, a new service featuring scheduled routes and direct flights to some of the most emerging oil and gas markets, making life easier for professionals travelling to major areas of economic activity. Scheduled to fly from the Air France hub, the Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport in Paris, the Dedicate-branded routes will connect these destinations to the global Air France and SkyTeam alliance network,” she added. The flight schedules, frequencies, service labels and comfort on Dedicate branded flights would match those of regular, long-haul flights of the airline. These flights will be operated with 82-seat Airbus A-319s, offering l’Espace Affaires (Business) and Tempo (Economy) class cabins, she disclosed.
The three Dedicate branded destinations in the Middle East region include Kuwait, Kish Island in Iran and Doha. The flight from Doha to Paris is expected to be operated on Thursdays and Sundays with incoming flights scheduled to land here on Wednesdays and Saturdays, she said.
“Each destination is a gateway to regions where a whole array of French and international companies operate, due to the proximity of oil production sites or large-scale infrastructure requirement areas. With Dedicate, Air France customers will benefit not only from the complete array of the airline’s services but also from Frequence Plus or Petroleum Club frequent flyer programmes. Dedicate flights are designed to meet the requirements of companies but are accessible to all Air France customers,” she said. The spokeswoman emphasised that fares on the ‘Dedicate’ flights would be comparable to those of regular flights.
Saeed Ul Haq, sales and marketing manager at Ali Bin Ali Travel Bureau, the General Sales Agents for Air France in Qatar, said currently, passengers travelling on the airline were being sent via Dubai, since the French carrier operates a daily service between the emirate and CDG.
