Beirut - Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi held talks on Wednesday with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on issues of mutual interests. In the meeting, the Iranian ambassador submitted a written message from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dealing with regional developments.
The Lebanese president lauded Iran's positive role in restoring stability and tranquility to Lebanon and the region. Referring to ongoing developments in Syria he said suspension of Syrian membership in the Arab League and imposing economic sanctions against the country were hasty moves.
Iran fully backs national unity in Lebanon and restoration of tranquility to that country, said the Iranian ambassador.
He also outlined Iran's stands on Syrian developments.
The two sides also discussed expansion of cooperation and implementation of agreements alread signed by the two countries.
