To drill at least 3 wells
MUSCAT -- Abraj Energy Services LLC, an Omani company engaged in drilling operations, well services and well engineering design consultancy, has signed a contract with Oilex Oman Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oilex Ltd, an Australian based oil and gas exploration and production company engaged in the exploration for petroleum in Block 56.
Oilex operates Block 56 on behalf of a joint venture consisting of Oilex Oman Limited, Videocon Industries Ltd, GAIL (India) Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. The contract is to drill three or more wells to total depths between 1,500 and 3,000 metres in the Block starting next month. The contract term is one year with options to extend the contract by two further six-month periods.
"This is a very key contract for Abraj," said Salim Mohammed al Rawahi, Chief Executive Officer of Abraj Energy Services. "In addition to Oilex being a very important client to us, the contract marks the strategic direction of Abraj in expanding its operations and diversifying its clients base." Al Rawahi pointed out that although Abraj Energy Services was established only in May 2006, it is now known in the industry for providing highly cost-effective well engineering services whilst devoting all efforts to ensuring reliable quality service and safe operations as well as customer satisfaction utilising talented and motivated staff, quality equipment and innovative technology.
According to Al Rawahi, the company was formed in response to the high demand for professional well engineering services not just in Oman but in the whole Middle East region. To be able to serve the growing needs of the industry, he revealed that the company not only plans to increase rigs fleets but to rapidly enhance its design consultancy and well services business streams.
Dr Bruce McCarthy, Managing Director of Oilex Ltd, stated: "Oilex is very pleased with the outcome of our international tender, which has resulted in Abraj Energy Services being the successful bidder. We have already begun operations with a large seismic acquisition programme and as we prepare to commence exploratory drilling in Block 56 we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship working with Abraj in Oman."
