AMMAN, March 15 (KUNA) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas confirmed on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation forces raid of Jericho and its prison yeserday as "dreadful, bad and unaceptable".
In a statement to newsmen after a meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Marouf Al-Bakheit, he said the British and US monitors told the PNA a week ago that they will pull out. However he added "we were kept in the dark" about the timing of their withdrawal just minutes before the Israeli assault.
He hinted that the Israelis knew early enough about the pull out of the monitors and this is manifested "by presence of the Israeli tanks at the same time to carry out the raid".
The six prisoners kidnapped by the Israeli forces "were locked up in Jericho jail according to an agreement and they have to stay there" he said adding that their arrest by Israel is a flagrant violation to the agreement sealed between the PNA on one hand and the US and Britian on the other.
On his talks with the Jordanian Premier, he said they touched on yesterday's Israeli raid in addition to a mechanism on the Jordanian-Palestinian moves whether at the level of the Quartet or the upcoming Arab summit in Khartoum.
