The Dubai Shopping Festival has lured visitors with a mouthwatering array of some of the best delicacies with the opening of the Cyber Food Festival on Sunday, organised by the Dubai Internet City.
The five-day festival, which will continue until February 10, is being held against the backdrop of the unique architecture and landscape of the zone.
The food fiesta gives an opportunity to visitors to enjoy international cuisine from noon to 3pm.
Attended by Jamal Abdul Salam, Director, and Malek Sultan Al Malek, manager of partner's relations at the Dubai Internet City (DIC), the festival got off to a mouthwatering start with visitors from all over the world as well as the people in the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Knowledge Village and neighbouring universities and residential communities tasting the delicacies.
The food fiesta is not only enchanting all food lovers, but visitors can also indulge in a delectable spread of local and international offerings featuring savoury dishes and delicious creations from Arabic, Indian, Mexican and Italian cuisines, with each day of the event dedicated to the cuisine of a particular country.
The visitors can enjoy shows from all over the world including Europe and North African marshal shows and participate in competitions and games during the five-day fiesta.
Live cooking sessions by some of the top chefs in Dubai also continue to enthral visitors, providing an insight into the making of some delicious dishes, while for the participating food outlets the event acts as an effective platform for sampling and launching their delicacies, boosting their images and gaining consumer feedback.
"This unique culinary event convened as part of DSF 2005 is inspired by the DSF theme of 'One World, One Family, One Festival'.
"The Cyber Food Festival brings together not only cuisines from different corners of the world but also serves as a melting pot for food lovers of many different nationalities celebrating great food with a host of culinary delights," said Al Malek.
"Such a festival not only gives retail food outlets exposure to their products to a maximum number of people, but it also gives visitors of DSF a whole new cooking experience along the lines of the DSF message which aims at bringing people of different cultural backgrounds onto a common platform."
The food festival is accompanied by a musical extravaganza from noon to 3pm.
The Kawa Zulu Brass Band and Around the World Dances performed on Sunday, and the Korean Traditional Band and the Bulgarian Flag Band played on Monday.
