ARBIL: The consultative meeting held by President Jalal Talabani ended today, confirming the desire to end the crisis on Arbil agreement basis.

The meeting was attended by President Jalal Talabani, Kurdish region president Masoud Barzani, head of Iraqiya bloc Iyad Alawi, Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi and Sadrist Trend leader Muqtada al-Sadr.

In a statement issued at the end of the meeting, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, the conferees stressed necessity to end the present political crisis, according to Arbil agreement.

Muqtada al-Sadr announced before yesterday, upon arrival to Arbil, an 18-point paper to solve the political crisis, and will present it to the Kurdish leadership.

President Jalal Talabani met Kurdish region president Masoud Barzani, last Wednesday, and discussed the latest developments in the Iraqi political situation and means to solve them and the implementation of Arbil agreement.

The preparatory committee of the National Conference met, on Tuesday, with the absence of Iraqiya bloc, to prepare the final draft of the agenda for presentation to President Talabani within the coming two days.

Iraqiya bloc said that the National Conference has "no meaning", charging the National Alliance to "waste time", stressing the implementation of Arbil agreement, and the attendance of the main leaders of the political entities as a pre-condition.

On the other hand, Premier Nouri al-Maliki rejected all "preconditions" to attend the National Conference.

Iraq is witnessing continued political crisis since December last along the accusations against vice-president Tariq al-Hashimi with terrorism and the attempts to demote deputy premier Saleh al-Mutlaq, both leading members in Iraqiya bloc.

Mutlaq described Premier Nouri al-Maliki as "a dictator", while Kurdish region president Masoud Barzani described the Iraqi government as "a loser", and charged Maliki to "unilaterally controlling the power in Iraq".
