ABU DHABI, June 9th, 2010: Two hundred twenty 11th grade students have been awarded scholarships by Abu Dhabi's Institute of Applied Technology to receive summer training courses in advanced technology in Asian and European countries.

The seconded students will complement their technical learning through experiencing the latest technologies such as nanotechnology, nuclear energy, manufacturing machines and engineering, respectively, in Taiwan (10 students), South Korea (50), Britain (100) and Germany (20). The other 40 students will go to Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

The selection criteria are based on performance assessment reports and the excellence of students in technological learning, according to director general of the institute Abdul Lateef Al-Shamsi.

During 4 to 8 weeks, the students will visit a number of universities, research centers, factories, laboratories in the said countries.
