Dubai, August 10, 2008: Brett Schafer, Senior Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE) received the prestigious Certified Development, Design and Construction Professional (CDP) award from the US-based International Council of Shopping Centre (ICSC).
ICSC is the recognised global trade association of the shopping centre industry founded in 1957. The Middle East Council for Shopping Centre (MECSC) is its regional body.
Schafer is the only person outside of the Americas and Europe to receive the award which honours members of the retail estate industry's development, design, and construction professionals.
Schafer's award follows his success at an exam which can only written by globally renowned professionals with a high level of expertise in the retail development process and who have demonstrated experience and knowledge in retail development, design and construction.
AFGRE is a key division of Al-Futtaim Group based in Dubai, responsible for the development and operations of the Group's real estate businesses across the MENA region. Schafer leads AFGRE development which manages the conception, development, procurement and construction of projects including the mega mixed-use developments Dubai Festival City and Cairo Festival City.
