Dubai: The properties in Deira district and much of Bur Dubai have been resurveyed as part of Dubai’s Building Classification System launched in June 2015. The data will vital in setting future rentals, which will be tied to the upkeep of individual properties rather than go by where they are located.

The new classification will increase data accuracy via the classification of properties, said a statement from the Dubai Land Department, which is undertaking the survey. Apart from rental terms, the process will also “facilitate the application of the Ejari system and speed the process of real estate evaluation.”

Once the entire city is mapped under the classification regime, it will “contribute” to simplifying disputes between parties and bring about a reduction in real estate data manipulation for the purpose of issuing business licenses.

“These ongoing improvements help us to provide quality services, meet the various needs of our customers quickly and easily, and provide accurate data on residential units and land plots across Dubai,” said Mohammad Khodr Al Dah, Senior Director, Technical Affairs Department.

The classification process has so far surveyed 55,601 plots of land out of 139,306. This represents around 40 per cent of the tasks allocated, extending across more than 173,850 apartments and 18,277 villas in Deira. These surveys were conducted with the help of an online system that was built in-house for the BCS project.
