TUNIS (TAP) - Some 39 agricultural projects worth 191 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) remain blocked until now, Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Saad Seddik said on Saturday.
This number exceeded 200 in 2012 and 2013, but from the end of 2014 and early 2015, works of several projects have resumed, he noted at a seminar on "difficulties of implementation of public projects".
These include drinking water supply projects in rural areas and some urban areas and construction of water structures, particularly dams and water transfer projects.
This blocking which causes freezing of funding and delay in development is due to land and social problems and financial difficulties faced by some entrepreneurs, besides administrative management problems, noted the minister.
On the public works sector, Ghazi Cherif, Director General at the Office of the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Spatial Planning noted that the ministry has pledged to carry out 121 projects worth 920 MTD, 66% of which relate to the construction of bridges and roads, 21% fall within the commitments of the Agency for Urban Rehabilitation and Renovation, 10% under urban planning and 3% under the national housing programme.
As for the problems impeding these projects, they are particularly land-related 40%, connected to procedures 22%, to entrepreneurs 17% and technical 9%.
He said that 50% of these projects have been unblocked and solutions were identified for 30% of these projects, noting that only 20% of these projects are still stalling.
These projects are located, in particular, in Sfax, Nabeul, Zaghouan, Jendouba, Beja, Mahdia and Monastir.
