Authority's stand received numerous investors and representatives of tourism authorities and agencies

9 new tourism projects to be completed in Sharjah by 2015

Dubai, 4th of May, 2011: The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has received a large number of important visitors, including elite businessmen and investors as well as senior representatives from the leisure and tourism sector, during its participation in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), currently taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

A number of VIPs, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Petroleum Council; Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Executive Manager of the Department of Information and E-Government, Government of Sharjah; the Lebanese Minister of Tourism, Fadi Abboud; and HE Abdulwahab Al Roumi, Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Sharjah, visited Shurooq's stand. They commended the success achieved by Shurooq since its inception, and the impact of this success on the tourism environment in Sharjah. 

HE Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, Chief Executive Officer of Shurooq, lauded the Arabian Travel Market, stressing its importance as a platform for communication among tourism players and for providing opportunities of cooperation among various investors and institutions with the aim of enhancing the leisure and tourism market in the region.

Speaking about Shurooq's future plans and the yet to be launched projects, Al Sarkal said: "The tourism and hospitality sector in the emirate of Sharjah will see a tremendous growth over the coming years. In particular, Shurooq is set to complete nine exclusive projects by 2015." He added that an advanced tourism vision will be implemented in these projects in accordance with international standards.

Several important meetings took place between Al Sarkal and a number of delegations and important visitors representing various sectors related to Shurooq's activities at the Authority's stand. Meetings were held with a group of senior government officials, including HE Ali Al Mahmoud, General Manager of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, and HE Ibrahim Saleh, Festivals Coordinator General at the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment.

Mr. Al Sarkal also held meetings with tourism representatives from various countries, including a delegation from Thailand comprised of Mrs. Sobaborn Wan Lauh, Assistant Manager, Mrs. Ratana Borjbakdi, Marketing Manager and Mr. Kalanio Amaranon, Commercial Promotion Coordinator of (Thai Trade office). The two parties discussed future tourism cooperation.

Shurooq announced the launch of its exclusive Khorfakkan Resort and Spa project on the second day of the 18th annual Arabian Travel Market.
