Dubai - Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, a flagship property of Rotana's alcohol-free Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts brand and previously certified the world's tallest hotel by Guinness Book of World Records was awarded for the'Most improved hotel in sustainability practices - 4 star hotel'during the Dubai Green Tourism Award 2014 that was held at the World Trade Center yesterday.

Competing against numerous hotels in Dubai, Rose Rayhaan by Rotana has successfully presented its sustainability plan, as well as environmental performance and practices and have beenrecognized and awarded during the grand ceremony organized by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

Commenting on the award, Karim Nahas, General Manager of Rose Rayhaan by Rotana said: "Sustainability is one of our hotel's top priorities and core business driver. We manage it in the same way we manage other aspects of the hotel and operations performance, look at sustainability from different aspects, being from the products we use, service to our guests, how we conserve energy and water, to working with our owner and corporate office to be more efficient", said Karim Nahas, the General Manager of Rose Rayhaan by Rotana.

Rose Rayhaan by Rotana excelled in water usage reduction, in managing carbon footprint. Waste recycling items have increased by 20% and decrease the general waste towards landfill by 10%. Eco-friendly LED bulbs have been installed not only on the entire hotel premises but also the building façade lights are being replaced to LED lights which will definitely contribute to the current figures of electricity usage reduction which is 11%. While the hotel's green initiatives and policies are implemented in line with the hotel's CSR program and the Rotana Earth, Rotana's Global Corporate Sustainability Platform, the hotel remains as an integral part of UAE society and was involved in numerous community customized projects such as clean-up campaigns, organizing donations to the Philippines after severe natural disasters and working very closely with numerous centers for children with special needs.

The Dubai Green Award was launched in 2009 tohonor environment-friendly hotels that have made significant improvements to services and systems through internal and external initiatives such as waste recycling, energy conservation, and environmental awareness campaigns. This Award is aiming to recognize the contributions of hotels and hospitality industry towards a maintainable environment that support the concept of sustainability practices, efforts to conserve natural resources.
