New Rixos hotel in the Maldives would be opened next year

Berlin: Rixos international hotel group is planning to expand its presence in the UAE to take advantage of steady growth in the tourism sector, the group's CEO Bugra Berberoglu has said.

He said a new hotel would officially be inaugurated in Jumeirah in 2016, adding that it would be a "tourism edifice" in the most attractive tourist area in the emirate.

Speaking at the International Travel Bourse in Berlin, he said Rixos is also considering building a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi and that the project would be announced soon.

Mr Berberoglu noted that Rixos hotels group has become one the fastest growing hotel chains in the world and that the group is pursuing expansion plans worldwide, including the Gulf, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.

He said the group has an ambitious plan to increase its property portfolio from 27 to 60 covering 20 destinations worldwide by 2020.

He said Rixos hotels have become a major destination for tourists from the GCC, adding that the group which was founded in 2000 now has presence in many countries in Europe, the Gulf, the Middle East, North Africa and the CIS state.

"Rixos has plans to own 60 hotels and resorts in more than 20 destinations by 2020...we intend to pump fresh investments into Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the next two years to expand our presence and face growing demand due to the steady growth in the tourism and other sectors in the UAE," he said.

He said Rixos also has plans to open more hotels in the Gulf, the Middle East, Africa and other Asian countries within its expansion drive.

He said 65 per cent of Rixos's properties would be ultra all inclusive resorts and the rest would consist of 5-star city hotels. "The group is marching in the right direction to maintain its position as one of the pioneering hospitality chains in the world."

He said Rixos Bab Al Bahr in Ras Al Khaimah is considered one of the largest hotel projects in the region as it comprises 655 rooms, five restaurants and many other facilities.

The "ultra all inclusive resort" is also the most wanted and beloved resort in the UAE and the Middle East by families with children and those who are seeking fun and entertainment, he said, noting that it is the only property with a variety of ranch activities for children and with different cuisines around the world, as well as Turkish bath and exciting SPA experiences.

"We would welcome visitors and guests to this hotel from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other Gulf states...we urge them to come and enjoy a new experience in hospitality," he said.

"We are focusing on Ras Al Khaimah in our expansion drive in the region given its beautiful nature, rich water resources and the fact that it is easily accessible."
