DOHA (Zawya Dow Jones)--Qatar Petrochemical Co., or QAPCO, will launch its 2.2 billion Qatari riyals ($604.1 million) polyethylene 3 plant in the second quarter of next year, Qatar News Agency reports Wednesday, citing comments from the company's general manager Mohammad All Mulla.
"The new low-density polyethylene, (LDPE), plant, known as LDPE-3, is expected to produce around 300,000MT [metric tons] per year," the QNA said. The plant would increase the company's production capacity of low-density polyethylene to 720,000 tons per year, it added.
QAPCO is owned 80% by Industries Qatar and 20% by Total Petrochemicals Co., part of French petroleum company Total S.A. (TOT).
