Western Parallel Road to provide new access points on the south side of the development
Dubai, UAE; 11 February 2012: The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre ("DMCC"), the licensing authority for the Jumeirah Lakes Towers ("JLT") Free Zone, announced that the RTA has opened the new Western Parallel Road, running on the south side of the community and connecting JLT to Al Barsha, Emirates Hills and The Meadows.
Gautam Sashittal, the Chief Operating Officer of DMCC, commented:
"This is a major milestone for the JLT community. The new road brings us one step closer to a permanent traffic solution, which will allow members of the JLT community to choose from a variety of access points and minimise traffic flow.
"Residents, workers and visitors now have a number of transit options available to them, including access points for motorists on the north and south side of the community, as well as two conveniently located Metro stations serving JLT. We are committed to supporting the RTA as they enhance transportation options in JLT on an ongoing basis."
The completion of the Western Parallel Road is part of RTA's ongoing efforts to continuously enhance the JLT area. JLT is a growing community with 60 towers, landscaping progressing across the estate and a range of retail outlets and leisure facilities opening each month.
Drivers seeking access to buildings in the Southern portion of JLT, including Almas Towers, are encouraged to use the new road. Drivers can do so via Exit 32 of the Abu Dhabi-bound Sheikh Zayed Road, after which they should proceed into Emirates Hills and turn right onto the new section of the Western Parallel road.
A temporary roundabout has also been established to replace the long U-turn leading to the Dubai-bound Sheikh Zayed Road exit.
A detailed drawing of the new road can be found on JLT's online community portal - www.dmcc.ae/jltcommunity. The website is dedicated to keeping its 25,000 residents, workers and visitors up to date with the latest community news, information and openings.
