Sponsored by Dell, NetApp and Veeam, the half-day academy will focus on the hottest trends in enterprise storage and data center technologies

Dubai, UAE: Enterprise Storage and Information Security specialist ISIT is co-organising a one-day Academy in Dubai in collaboration with Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Europe on 11th May 2016, at The Conrad Hotel. The half-day academy will comprise SNIA vendor neutral technology updates along with insights from leading enterprise storage and data center technology vendors Dell, NetApp and Veeam, on the hottest trends in enterprise storage and data center technologies. End users will have opportunities to directly interact with sponsoring vendors in the exhibit section during the event to discuss specific solutions.

The SNIA Academy will address topics such as Hyper Converged Infrastructure impact on the data center, Flash and Beyond - developments in non-volatile memory and persistent memory technologies, Security Considerations when moving to cloud, and Data protection and availability in a virtual and cloud enabled data center. Sponsored by SNIA members Dell, NetApp and Veeam, the Academy is aimed at end users such as IT/data center managers, heads of operations, heads of infrastructure, storage, backup and data center specialists.

Speaking about the Academy, Mr. Mahesh Vaidya, Chairman of SNIA Middle East Committee and CEO of ISIT states, "Data centers are going through an unprecedented change due to advances in new technologies and availability of new IT delivery models with the availability of Cloud. Economic considerations are also impelling data center managers to look at efficient and cost effective ways of delivering IT. Convergence, Hyper Convergence and Cloud are all targeted at driving efficiencies and lowering Capex in the datacenter". Vaidya added, "While more of our customers are looking at options to move their backup and Disaster Recovery to the Cloud, many lack meaningful criteria by which to evaluate security and privacy of data in the cloud. The academy seeks to educate the IT audience on these issues to help them evaluate new technologies as they make the transition from their traditional data center to the next generation model in a secure manner."

Ossama El Samadoni, Vice Chairman of SNIA Middle East Committee and Director of Enterprise Solutions at Dell had this to say about this year's academy, "Last year's academy focused on Flash and software defined storage. Since then, Flash storage adoption increased significantly and we saw an upsurge in interest in Hyperconverged solutions enabled by software defined storage. New developments expected in the area of Non-Volatile and persistent memory technologies will further increase IOPS and Bandwidth and significantly reduce latencies in server-storage communications. Today's flash still relies on IO protocols designed for spinning disk. This year's Academy will continue to educate Storage and Data Center stakeholders on the newer developments and help them sift through the technologies in a way that makes sense to their business."
